The HOUSE_II.ZIP file is a zipped version of the floppy disk
used to distribute the HOUSE-II simulation model. We suggest first
unzipping the .ZIP file onto a floppy, reading the documentation,
studying the installation .BAT file, and choosing how to load it onto
your system. It is set up to install on drive c:.
The zipped file contains various documentation files, batch files, and a
self extracting HOUSE_II.EXE. The self extracting file contains the
source code, the executabile code, and sample inputs and outputs.
It sets up a series of subdirectories containing those files.
Run the sample case first to set up the preconditioning files.
Then run the sample case a second time resetting IGINIT from -2 to 2.
The second ouptut file should match the sample output file.
Exact agreement has been benchmarked on 286, 386, and 486 PCs,
Sun and HP workstations.
It takes 2 hours to simulate month of house operation on a 25MH 386.
The 1992 ASHRAE HVAC Systems and Equipment Handbook, Chapter 29
describes the "SP43" (Special Project 43) computer model that was
the single zone parent (HOUSE-I) of the multi-zone (HOUSE-II) model.
